Shuven
Identical in appearance to the smaller swamp rats they hunt, cunning as a Kodog, none as craven.
Adult skuven grow up to 2’ in body length, plus tails doubling that length with short coarse hair ranging from gray, brown, or black, they have a lighter underbellies. Excellent hearing, their sense of smell is especially well-developed and helps them locate food, water, and navigate dark places. Their sharp claws and teeth are used for both combat and survival, ideal for digging and climbing.
They are deeply cunning and adaptive. They have an intrinsic social dynamic, making them capable of manipulating situations to their advantage such as group burrows. Despite this social organization, shuven show no loyalty or motivation beyond survival although their females will aggressively swarm if unable to flee with young and males may turn and fight if cornered or panicked.
Shuven prefer underground burrows or urban warrens that are often intricate and labyrinthine. Their dwellings are functional, utilizing natural resources and scavenged materials to create complex, interconnected tunnels and hidden chambers. These underground strongholds are not sophisticated in terms of architecture yet are designed around security and practicality.
Shuven express no culture, faith or belief and are often viewed with disdain by other races due to their destructive scavenger lifestyle. Hob exterminate them on sight.
